Zid Zid Kids
The Arabic phrase, “Zid Zid,” means, “Let’s go!” -- an expression used to urge children and sometimes donkeys to action. Zid Zid Kids embraces the way children stimulate hearts and minds with their everyday spirit, honesty and creativity. For a child, life is about playing, discovering, and learning. Their ability to laugh, cry, explore, hide, shy away and jump out, reflect a magic that is central to Zid Zid and the basis for their starting point: the Zid Zid Kids drawing board.
As artists, the founders are inspired by their own two children and the intense
beat of their home base: Marrakech, Morrocco. The artisans, the colors, the chaotic
character and style attributed to the magical blending of thousands
of years of multiple influences, still render Marrakech the crossroad of the
East and the West. The ancient city square, Marrakech’s Place Djemaa el Fna,
is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the undisputed heart of North Africa.
This preserved setting has been a center for travelers, traders and caravans for ages.
Today, acrobats, musicians, snake charmers, jumping Monkeys, storytellers
and makers of folklore keep the square as vital as ever.

All Zid Zid creations are hand-crafted and made in their own Marrakech studio
workshop: an old Riad style house filled with light, singing birds and old black
and white Spanish tiles. The Zid Zid seamstresses manage the fabrics from the
beginning cut to the end packaging. The embroiderers are a group
of energetic women taught by their mothers and grandmothers
over countless generations. The painters are young men trained in the
ancient art of classical Islamic painting.
The Zid Zid Kids environmental commitment integrates natural materials when ever possible.
The product line uses fabrics that include a 100% high quality brushed cotton flannel
imported from Europe and a natural hand-dyed cotton. They use recycled materials
whenever possible and hand-select remnants from local clothing manufacturers and
use high quality European odds and ends to create the one of a kind Animals Cushions.
The filling inside of their classic Mini Poofs is 100% recycled cotton.
